The announcement that Android 4.4 Intel 64-bit Kitkat was released to developers and manufacturers that use the chip. Intel porting, validation and test the Android Open Source code on Intel Architecture and will provide the ecosystem with the 64-bit kernel support for the development of next-generation devices.
This is a significant contribution to the development of Android, even though the system was engineered to work only on Intel chips only. Intel's move may be indicative of the Android transition to 64-bit computing is imminent. ABI Research estimates that a large number of 64-bit mobile devices will begin shipping in 2015, and another rumor mentions that the upcoming Google Nexus tablet 8 using the 64-bit Intel chips.
